At any given time, you can find me: Rowing, sleeping, eating, watching ESPN, enjoying cake (the food), enjoying Cake (the band), floundering on the piano, dominating at video games, competing at math team, absolutely loving Hopper paintings, seeing movies like Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Despicable Me, No Country for Old Men, Fight Club and Black Swan, and most importantly spending time with the people I love.
The people I love – the important ones - are laid back, resourceful, passionate, smart, and down to earth. They are wonderful. The ones I don’t like to be with, those are the people who only complain instead of trying to fix their problems themselves. I don’t want to be with someone who is allergic to effort. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help, but be willing to sweat and work for yourself.
I view my world through the lens of mathematics and science, the way they interact interests and inspires me. While some people love pure mathematics for the pattern, beauty, and elegance of it all (which I totally appreciate, it's just not for me), I enjoy the way it can be used to model and solve real world, scientific problems.
To help give you a better sense of my personality, here's the (slightly modified) short essay I wrote for the housing application.
I clean in spurts, listen to music using headphones, support the Miami Dolphins, Heat, and the New York Yankees, plan to do most of my homework in the library or at least outside of the dorm room, and hope to spend Friday and Saturday nights out with my friends; I'm willing to try anything once, but I am allergic to shellfish. I'll happily dash out to do something that I just found out about 30 seconds ago. If I have any free time it will be spent playing piano (poorly) or video games (well).
