Everyone wants updates from MIT. A chorus of “Stay in touch!”es, “Keep me in the loop”s, and “Email me”s rises from every good bye. No complaints here. I like writing – I almost enjoyed the application essays. And there will be no shortage of material on campus.
Blogs are easily accessible by anyone from anywhere. As long as you have an internet connection, you can enjoy the posts at your speed. Read an entire month’s worth at a time, read them the instant they’re published, or simply read them when you have time. If something piques your interest, go ahead and open all the entries about biology. Find all the pictures from the year’s regattas. It’s all in one place and easy to find. Nothing will accidentally get deleted from your inbox.
My blog will follow a weekly update schedule. I'll try to write Tuesday, proof read Wednesday, and publish by Thursday morning. The opportunity to sit down and reflect on the last week should be therapeutic and I intend to enjoy it thoroughly. I may not always post updates on time. If I simply don’t have the chance to sit down, write, rewrite, and proofread a piece of prose, I won't. A blog doesn't hold much weight when compared to classes, problem sets, practices, work, a social life, etc, but I will stick to the schedule as best I can.
So, the point of this site: Ideally, it becomes an accurate source for information on what life is like at MIT. I will strive to capture the mood and culture on campus, to become a resource for highschoolers considering continuing their education in Cambridge, MA. Want to know about how housing works? Find it here. How about some tips for the first round of midterms? I promise access to all the gory details, from when to take study breaks to the best way to cram.
Ultimately, I'll define success as at least one person making the weekly entry a part of their Wednesday/Thursday/Friday morning. Please enjoy.
